A welcoming inclusion and support conversation

Inclusive practice

Turn compassion into accessible action.

Training can help leaders and volunteers review language, hospitality, communication, sensory needs, safeguarding awareness and signposting.

  • People-first language and respect for every person’s dignity
  • Sensory-aware services, visual schedules and quieter spaces
  • Support for children and young people with additional needs
  • Accessible hospitality, volunteer preparation and clear boundaries

Optional faith-specific learning

Beyond Suffering learning routes.

Churches that want a faith-specific pathway can ask about guided learning using Beyond Suffering: A Christian View on Disability Outreach, presented by the Christian Institute on Disability, Joni and Friends, USA.

The curriculum covers disability outreach, theology of suffering and disability, the church’s role and an introduction to bioethics. It is for participating organisations and is not a condition of receiving OAKonsult family support.

Delivery

Shape the training around the church’s context.

Options include a 90-minute introduction, half-day or full-day training, and longer learning cohorts. Sessions may be online or in person by arrangement.
